In 2014, Pratt Institute set out to create a place for changemakers in New York City by establishing the Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator. Each year we honor people who have inspired us by shining a spotlight on people and brands that are advancing sustainability, ethical production and integrating new technologies. This year we focus that light on our own community- a collection of over 20 businesses, and the people that have inspired us by changing how business is done.

Our awards attract over 500 industry professionals, educators, journalists and entrepreneurs who come together in the dynamic atmosphere that is uniquely the BF+DA. Our startups, Research & Academic Fellows and alumni come together with textile book authors to transform studios into pop-up shops, the production lab is in full swing, the sustainability lab showcases new materials and the technology lab will unveil new research in smart garments and functional fabrics.
